In just four hours, communities across the country came together in support of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA’s) National Drug Take Back Day on April 26, 2025. With participation from 4,472 law enforcement partners and 4,590 collection sites, this nationwide event resulted in the safe disposal of 620,321 lbs (310 tons) of unwanted or expired medications. HC DrugFree is proud to have contributed 1,359.5 lbs to this total at our local Howard County collection site! Since the beginning of this program, 9,910 tons of medication have been collected nationwide – that’s 19,820,761 lbs! Proper disposal of medications and sharps is a key part of preventing substance misuse and protecting the safety of our families, communities, and environment. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this collection a success and for helping keep our community safe!
