Community Mental Health: It’s Time to Act

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is partnering with St John Baptist Church (SJBC) to host a community event titled Community Mental Health: It’s Time to Act to engage students, parents/guardians, staff and community members regarding the mental health concerns impacting our students.
SJBC Senior Pastor Reverend Dr. Robert Turner will deliver opening remarks followed by HCPSS Superintendent Dr. Michael J. Martirano who will be the keynote for the event, sharing local and national data about student mental and behavioral health needs that illustrate the challenges our youth are facing, and how HCPSS is responding to those needs.
Following the remarks, attendees will have the opportunity to attend a resource fair to gather important mental and behavioral health information from HCPSS staff and community health partners including the Howard County Health Department, Community Action Council, FirstCall Medical Center, HC DrugFree and others.
